Join us for our special Bike to the Bay Ride for Day on the Bay on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 9:30 am. We'll be gathering at Plaza Del Sol in Sunnyvale, (200 Eveyln Avenue/Next to Caltrain Station). All ages welcome to this family-friendly ride.
Our route will take us past Murphy Park, and then along the John W. Christian Greenbelt to Seven Seas Park, and then to Baylands Park and end at the Day on the Bay Multicultural Festival at the Alviso Marina County Park.
We're excited to welcome Sunnyvale Mayor Klein to join us for this year's ride! There will also be a Pre-Ride with San José Bike Party starting at 7:45 am from San José City Hall. Get more information on Pre-Ride Event.
The bicycle remains the best alternative to cars and automobiles, and with our Free Bike Valet Parking hosted by Silicon Valley Bike Coalition, riding your bike to the festival is the best choice for fun!

Bike to the Bay Ride 2022 route highlights
Sunnyvale Avenue bike lanes:
This street is the most important North-South bicycle connector in Sunnyvale. Thanks to efforts by Bike Sunnyvale and Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition successfully advocated for removing street parking and installing buffered bike lanes. This safety enhancement will provide 11 miles of continuous bike lanes connecting the Bay Trail to Saratoga. Riders now have safer access to Downtown, Moffett Park, the Caltrain Station, and numerous other important destinations. Additionally, children will be able to safely ride to Bishop Elementary School, Columbia Middle School, and Fremont High School.
Java Drive “Road Diet”:
Road Diet is a term for reducing or changing lanes in order to achieve systemic improvement usually for the inclusion of rail, bike or pedestrian pathways. Java Drive is the spine of Moffett Park and is currently undergoing road diet changes thanks to efforts by Bike Sunnyvale and other local SVBC teams. Java Drive will soon have buffered bike lanes, with the eventual goal of protected bike lanes.
East Channel Creek Trail:
The East Channel Creek runs from Homestead Road all the way to the Bay. The plan is to pave the access road and make it a beautiful multi-use trail, similar to the San Tomas Creek Trail *in Santa Clara. The City of Sunnyvale has just secured funding to start studying the design, and upon construction, this trail will be a fantastic north to south connector for cyclists and pedestrians.
Bay Trail:
The San Francisco Bay Trail welcomes hikers, joggers, bicyclists, skaters and wheelchair users to more than 350 miles of trails that circle the bay. The Bay Trail continues to be a special treasure for our families, and there are plans to upgrade sections of this trail to provide a safe continuous loop around the entire Bay Area.
