Press Release Day on the Bay 2022

County of Santa Clara, CA - The community is invited to join Supervisor Otto Lee and County of Santa Clara Parks for Day on the Bay 2022, a popular multicultural celebration and festival being held at the Alviso Marina County Park, 1195 Hope Street, on Saturday, October 8 from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm.

“We’re honored to welcome everyone back to the Alviso Marina County Park for our Day on the Bay Festival! Thanks to Santa Clara County Parks and our many sponsors we’re planning a bigger event that includes a special mural unveiling in the afternoon. Continuing this free celebration and festival at the beautiful Alviso waterfront is our chance to highlight this gem of the South Bay while providing entertainment and resources for the community,” said Supervisor Otto Lee.

“Thanks to our community partners we’re able to offer free health services, including flu shots and the new bivalent COVID booster, for our families while they enjoy fun activities,” added Supervisor Lee.

This year’s Bike to the Bay Ride has a new starting point at Plaza del Sol in Sunnyvale. Leading the ride along with San José Bike Party will be Sunnyvale Mayor Larry Klein! They’ll arrive at the festival with free bike valet parking provided by Silicon Valley Bike Coalition.

The festival will be emceed by: Rhoda Shapiro, Milpitas Beat Founder; Dr. Jennifer Briscoe, Status of Women for County of Santa Clara Commissioner; Carmen Brammer, Black Leadership Kitchen Cabinet Member; and returning from last year, Mimi Hernandez, Prosperity Lab Executive Director.

Day on the Bay 2022 will offer free COVID-19 booster vaccines, flu shots, marina boat tours, kayak rides, and pumpkins for kids, while supplies last. There will be several entertainers, a rock climbing wall, and health and wellness resource fair with more than 110 community organizations participating.
 

Parking and shuttles will be available at the George Mayne Elementary School (5030 North First Street, Alviso, CA 95002). Sign-ups for boat tours and kayaks will begin at 10:00 am.

Note: While we love our pets and furry friends, due to habitat protection, no pets are allowed at the Alviso Marina County Park. 

Supervisor Otto Lee represents District 3 on the County of Santa Clara Board of Supervisors which represents Sunnyvale, Milpitas, the northern neighborhoods of San José including Alviso and Berryessa, and unincorporated areas along the border with Alameda and Stanislaus Counties.
