Official Statement - Shooting at Rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024

Official Statement, Supervisor Otto Lee

America has a long, dark history of assassination of Presidents and through no uncertain terms we condemn this disgusting act of violence. Numerous conspiracy theories flooded the social media in its aftermath, but everyone must refrain from spreading rumors and drawing unfounded conclusions while authorities investigate and collect evidence to determine the truth.

We extend our deepest condolences to the families impacted and pray for the swift recovery of those wounded and President Trump. This is a national tragedy and we abhor those who are using this incident for monetary gain, or making fun or jokes of this deadly incident.

Some believe that this shooting would divide Americans, and foreign actors interfering with our elections will definitely try. Therefore, despite our differences and discourse, America must stand united to defend our democracy and our sacred Constitution. In our democracy, political opponents are not enemies. We are fellow Americans and we must never forget that important distinction.

For now, do take the time to call or hug a loved one, while our nation heals from this traumatic incident.  In time, America will emerge stronger together, for a better tomorrow.
