Winners of 2023 Silicon Valley Clean Energy Electric Showcase Awards Honored by the Board of Supervisors for Their Efforts to Electrify Their Homes or Businesses

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA - On October 2nd, 2023, the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors recognized the 16 winners of the Silicon Valley Clean Energy 2023 Electric Showcase Awards. These residents had demonstrated a commitment to the climate in their journey to upgrade to clean, electric technologies in their homes and businesses. Supervisor Otto Lee presented a Board Commendation to each of the winners and to Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) for their excellent work in encouraging electrification and helping to reduce carbon emissions.

Electrification and reducing greenhouse gas emissions are County priorities, as well as priorities of Supervisor Lee, who also sits on the SVCE Board of Directors.

“The climate crisis is increasingly urgent, and there is no time to lose.” said Supervisor Otto Lee. “The winners of this showcase are leaders and fantastic examples of the actions that must be taken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and slow climate change.”

The Electric Showcase Awards were created by SVCE to showcase existing electrified homes and buildings that utilize their clean electricity and to encourage more residents to go electric. The 16 winners include 13 homeowners, an apartment complex, a Reform Synagogue, and a hair salon, all located in Santa Clara County.

“By upgrading to efficient electric technology, residents and businesses are using their clean power to reduce local pollution and improve indoor air quality,” said Girish Balachandran, SVCE CEO. “Not only is it our goal to provide clean and reliable electricity, but to help our customers feel empowered to use it to lower their carbon footprint.”

SVCE received 150 applications for the 2023 Electric Showcase Awards, and in addition to the 16 winners, 105 residents were selected as “Amped Up Honorable Mentions”. View the winners and read their stories online at: http://www.svcleanenergy.org/electric-showcase-awards-23.

On Saturday, October 14, over 40 Bay Area homeowners will open their doors to the public and share their experience of going electric. Residents that are looking to hear more about electric technologies, available rebates, the installation process and comfort benefits can hear directly from community members that have already taken these actions during the SVCE-sponsored 2023 Electric Home Tour. Residents interested in making upgrades to efficient electric appliances can take advantage of SVCE rebates, which may be combined with federal tax credits and other state incentives. Learn more: https://svcleanenergy.org/home-rebates/.
